Ron has an outstanding record of achievement in both public and private sectors. From 1959 to 1980 he served in the U.S. Army as a battalion commander at Fort Bragg, NC; an operations and training officer at the John F. Kennedy Center for Military Assistance; and a platoon leader in Vietnam during two combat tours.

Ron is a recipient of the United States military's highest decoration—the Medal of Honor—for his actions in the Vietnam War. He was also awarded the Silver Star, the Bronze Star, the Army Commendation Medal, and a Purple Heart. He also served as U.S. European Command advisor to the armed forces of Norway, Italy and Turkey and was Commander of a Special Forces (Green Beret) Battalion. In addition, he is a former president of the Congressional Medal of Honor Society.

Ron was inducted into the Officer Candidate School Hall of Fame, the Ranger Hall of Fame and selected as a "Distinguished Member" of the 1st Special Forces Regiment.

Ron was selected as a White House Fellow in 1974 and served as Special Assistant to the Secretary of Commerce. Ron was nominated by President George Bush to be an Assistant Secretary of Veterans Affairs (VA) where he served from 1989 to 1993. As Assistant Secretary for Human Resources and Administration at the VA, he was a key executive in the second largest and one of the most complex federal agencies with a workforce of over 260,000 (over $100 billion budget, 172 medical centers).

Ron operated and sold a number of companies. He co-founded MedicaSoft, a provider of cloud-based, HIPAA-compliant software solutions and health information technology services, where he is still active.

In 2008 Ron established Ray Group International (RGI), a Service Disabled Veteran Owned Business (SDVOB). Four years later, Ron joined PwC when the firm acquired RGI, and served as a Managing Director in PwC's Public Sector Practice (PSP). In 2013, Ron was selected by Consulting magazine in its annual list of "Top 25 Consultants" in the category of "Excellence in Public Sector".

Ron holds a Master's degree in Public Administration from the University of Oklahoma and holds a Bachelor degree in History from the University of Tampa. Ron is a member of the Special Forces Association as well as the Congressional Medal of Honor Society. He is also a member of the White House Fellows Association, Omicron Delta Kappa, Legion of Valor, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the American Legion.
